Job summary

Smithfield is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to keep our plant running safely and efficiently. You’ll apply expertise in general maintenance, hydraulics, electrical systems, and basic welding to support production lines. Expect teamwork, hands-on repairs, and adherence to GMP safety standards.

You will follow lockout/tagout procedures and contribute to a high-performance environment while providing reliable maintenance support across the facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 1+ years in industrial maintenance or food manufacturing.
• Technical/Vocational diploma or associate degree preferred.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate with others.
• Ability to operate PIT equipment (forklift/genie/scissor lift).

Responsibilities

• Perform daily preventive maintenance on production lines to minimize downtime.
• Dismantle and repair faulty machinery, replace parts and restore operation.
• Follow safety protocols including LOCKOUT/TAGOUT and GMP practices.
• Maintain plant facilities and assist with general maintenance tasks.
