Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to uphold and repair plant equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and restore machinery to full operation while following GMP and safety protocols in a fast-paced food manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma with 1+ years in industrial maintenance or food manufacturing, or 4 years’ direct experience in industrial maintenance.
• Vocational/technical diploma or associate degree preferred.
• Ability to work well in a team and coordinate with contractors.
• Ability to operate PIT equipment (forklift, genie lift, scissor lift).
• Ability to read work orders, write daily reports, and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily preventive maintenance on production lines and machinery to minimize downtime.
• Dismantle, repair, and replace faulty parts; repair and lubricate bearings, gears, and shafts.
• Support production and quality teams; assist with troubleshooting and repairs as needed.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized plant environment and follow GMP and LOCKOUT/TAGOUT procedures.
