Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our plant running smoothly by maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment in a fast-paced food processing environment.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and participate in preventive maintenance programs across multiple systems, ensuring safety and production targets are met. We offer comprehensive health insurance, retirement benefits, and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing; or 4 years direct experience in such environment.
• Vocational Diploma or Technical Diploma preferred.
• Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift, or scissor lift.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders, assess tools, time, and parts; use SAP to create work orders.
• Monitor machinery during operation and troubleshoot/mechanically repair issues.
• Disassemble, replace faulty parts, and test to ensure functionality; fabricate parts as needed.
• Install and maintain mechanical equipment, electrical controls, and piping per specs.
• Follow safety protocols including LOCKOUT/TAGOUT and GMPs.
