Overview
Maintenance Technician G5 is a fifth-level technician responsible for meeting all expectations outlined in Levels G1 through G4, as well as the additional expectations specific to Level G5. The initial assessment will be based on a standardized test administered by Human Resources.
Responsibilities
The following expectations will be reviewed during your 90-day evaluation. These are intended to guide your focus on the core competencies required for G5 level maintenance team members. You may be assigned specific focus areas based on plant needs, with a focus list provided for your initial evaluation period. While we encourage your growth and creativity, mastering these key expectations is essential for your success and will be assessed at your 90-day review. Additional skills and efforts are always appreciated.
Level G1 Key Result Expectations
- Complete lockout/tagout training and demonstrate the ability to identify lock locations, follow procedures, and apply lockout devices.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Follow instructions for basic assembly and repair of equipment.
- Assist other maintenance technicians on projects and rebuilds.
- Learn the locations and descriptions of lines and equipment.
- Locate parts in the parts room and sign out correctly.
- Complete paperwork such as checklists and work orders as required.
- Enter and complete work orders in the computerized maintenance management system.
- Perform repairs on production equipment, processing equipment, and facilities as assigned.
- Initiate work efforts independently when possible.
- Willing to work regular, off-shift hours, overtime, and be on call as needed.
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisors or lead mechanics.
Level G2 Key Result Expectations
- Start and safely stop key equipment like carton erectors, fillers, robots, conveyors, labelers, and carton closers.
- Adjust equipment for specific carton sizes.
- Disassemble and reassemble filler pumps using correct O-rings.
- Remove and install cup droppers where applicable.
- Change lidding rolls and threads correctly (52MM).
- Install and remove heater assemblies, including alignment and thermocouple placement.
- Install and remove lid knife assemblies correctly (52MM).
- Understand the operation of pick-and-place robots.
- Make minor adjustments to carton divider inserters.
- Start or stop inkjet coding systems and align printer heads.
- Perform PM duties following written instructions with minimal supervision.
- Interpret basic machine diagrams to identify parts and assemblies.
- Rebuild heater and cup dropper assemblies as needed.
- Use multimeters or amp probes to check power presence.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or lead mechanics.
Level G3 Key Result Expectations
- Operate all packaging equipment at production level.
- Change package settings on robots for different products.
- Interpret complex wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings for repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair all mechanical equipment in assigned areas.
- Troubleshoot and repair 3-phase motor controls.
- Replace and wire motors correctly.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical control issues.
- Use PLC input/output indications for diagnostics.
- Fabricate or modify mechanical components.
- Perform minor welding repairs.
- Perform complete line changeovers as needed.
Level G4 Key Result Expectations
- Lead maintenance projects, including installations and rebuilds.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control issues.
- Interpret CIP piping circuits and feedback devices.
- Rebuild pumps and replace pump motors.
- Perform advanced fabrication and sanitary welds.
- Use PLC software with a laptop for troubleshooting, with permission.
Level G5 Key Result Expectations
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems mechanically and electrically.
- Attend and pass Ammonia Operator 1 training.
- Troubleshoot and repair ammonia system issues.
- Manage wastewater system operations and controls.
- Replace and commission faulty Allen Bradley drives.
- Lead maintenance activities in the absence of the supervisor.
Qualifications
Preliminary qualifications include passing a standardized test to verify basic trade skills knowledge.
Competencies
Environmental Working Conditions
The employee must adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including the use of PPE and handling hazardous chemicals. Tasks may involve lifting objects up to 50 pounds, working in noisy environments, and exposure to odors from spices, ingredients, or cleaning chemicals.
