Overview
The following minimum expectations will be reviewed at your 90-day review. These expectations are listed to help you focus on the preliminary expectations to maintain the level of Class G5 maintenance team member. You may be assigned a specific focus area based on the plant needs at the time and will be supplied with a focus list for your initial 90-day evaluation. We encourage your pursuit of knowledge and creativity, but mastering the listed Key Result Expectations is essential as they will be reviewed at your 90-day review. Additional efforts and skill applications are always welcome.
Responsibilities
Level G1 Key Result Expectations
- Complete individual lockout/tagout training, demonstrate ability to identify lock locations, follow lockout procedures, and apply lockout devices.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Follow directions, verbal or written, for basic assembly and repair of equipment.
- Assist other maintenance technicians on projects and rebuilds.
- Learn the locations and descriptions of lines and equipment.
- Locate parts in the parts room and sign out correctly.
- Complete paperwork for checklists, work orders, and documentation as required.
- Enter and complete work orders in the computerized maintenance management system.
- Perform repair work on production equipment, processing equipment, and buildings/grounds as assigned.
- Initiate work efforts independently when possible to complete tasks.
- Willing to work regular shift hours, off-shift hours, overtime, and be on call as needed.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Maintenance Supervisor or Lead Mechanic.
Level G2 Key Result Expectations
- Start and safely stop key equipment such as carton erectors, fillers, packing robots, conveyors, labelers, and carton closers.
- Adjust box erectors/closers for specific carton sizes.
- Disassemble and reassemble filler pumps using correct O-rings.
- Remove and install cup droppers where applicable.
- Change lidding rolls and thread onto machines correctly (52MM).
- Install and remove heater assemblies properly, including thermocouples.
- Install and remove lid knife assemblies correctly (52MM).
- Understand the fundamental operation of pick-and-place robots.
- Make minor adjustments to the carton divider inserter (MGS).
- Start or stop inkjet coding systems and align printer heads.
- Perform PM duties following written PM documents with minor supervision.
- Interpret basic machine diagrams to identify parts or assemblies.
- Rebuild heater and cup dropper assemblies as needed.
- Use a Multimeter or Amp probe to detect power presence or absence.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Lead.
Level G3 Key Result Expectations
- Operate all packaging equipment at the production level of operation.
- Change package selection on packing robots for different sizes.
- Interpret complex wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings for repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair all mechanical equipment in assigned areas.
- Troubleshoot and repair 3-phase motor controls.
- Replace and wire three-phase and single-phase motors correctly.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical control issues.
- Use PLC input/output indications to diagnose and repair peripheral components.
- Fabricate or modify mechanical components for equipment.
- Perform minor stick or TIG welds for repairs.
- Perform complete line changeovers based on product demand.
Level G4 Key Result Expectations
- Lead maintenance projects, including new equipment installs and rebuilds.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues in all production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues in all production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair advanced pneumatic and control issues.
- Interpret CIP piping circuits and information feedback devices using operator interfaces, observation, and schematics.
- Rebuild pumps and replace pump motors as needed.
- Perform advanced fabrication and sanitary welds.
- Troubleshoot using a laptop with PLC software, with permission from supervision.
Level G5 Key Result Expectations
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues with HVAC systems.
- Attend and pass Ammonia Operator 1 training.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues with the Ammonia system.
- Possess complete operational knowledge of the wastewater system.
- Replace and commission faulty Allen Bradley drives.
- Lead Maintenance Team activities in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications
Preliminary Qualifications
Must pass a standardized test to verify basic trade skills knowledge to qualify for the G5 Maintenance Technician level.
Working Conditions/Environment
Environmental Working Conditions
Must comply with all safety policies and procedures, including PPE use and handling hazardous chemicals. Tasks may involve lifting objects up to 50 pounds, frequent movement, and working in noisy environments.
Additional considerations
Participation in safety training, hazard analysis, and safety committees is expected. The company reserves the right to modify responsibilities and requirements as needed.
Additional Skills and Cross Training
Mastery of additional equipment and skills is encouraged, with a minimum of 75% of credits from specific requirements. Willingness to share knowledge and cross-train is expected to support plant operations.
