Brookdale in Danville, VA is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to manage associates responsible for general operating maintenance and repair of the buildings and grounds, ensuring safety and compliance with standards.

The role leads maintenance, housekeeping and laundry staff as applicable, schedules tasks, inspects work, coordinates repairs, and maintains communications with fire and building inspectors; a high school diploma and 2–3 years related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; 2–3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements: Valid State Driver’s License required for vehicle travel, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the community maintenance, housekeeping and laundry staff (if applicable), including hiring, training, evaluating performance, resolving disciplinary issues and firing.
• Directs workers engaged in maintenance and upkeep of the interior and exterior of the community; inspects completed work for conformance to standards and policies.
• Oversees scheduled maintenance on HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generator, landscape, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord equipment.
• Coordinates maintenance requests by residents for items needing repair in their rooms, including plumbing, electrical, heating and replacing light bulbs.
• Oversees repairs and maintenance of buildings including vacated rooms in a timely manner, including painting walls and cleaning carpets.
• Maintains walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork in common areas; ensures safety and compliance with regulations.
• Maintains communication with local fire authorities, inspectors, and state codes; coordinates with jurisdictions as needed.
• Assesses plumbing and electrical problems, determines corrective actions, and works within local/state codes.
• Reviews safety data sheets for potential exposure to hazards and takes necessary precautions.
• Assesses property damage and files claims per company policy.
• Responds to resident or community emergencies as needed.
