Job summary

Sunshine Retirement Living seeks a Maintenance Coordinator/Handyman to perform and supervise upkeep of community interiors, exteriors, and equipment, coordinating repairs with staff and external vendors to keep facilities safe and attractive.

The role requires hands‑on maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds, with strong English communication and customer service for residents. On‑call duties may apply.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ verifiable hands‑on maintenance experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, etc.
• Ability to perform and coordinate emergency building repairs and contracting of subcontractors.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record; may assume Community Driver duties as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Effective communication in English, both verbal and written.
• Pass state health and safety requirements as applicable.
• Team player with strong customer service orientation.
• Ability to meet deadlines under time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Perform or supervise maintenance tasks for interior and exterior areas and equipment, including resident apartments.
• Inspect Community and monitor maintenance log daily to address concerns.
• Implement maintenance programs (HVAC, carpet, mold, etc.).
• Order equipment, parts, and services per procedures.
• Assist in monitoring capital improvement projects.
• Recommend repairs and replacements to leadership.
• Maintain safe, functional mechanical room and proper storage of equipment.
