Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician II for Chimney Rock State Park in Chimney Rock, NC. The role involves hands-on maintenance of grounds, buildings and equipment, with opportunities to supervise teams and work outdoors in varied conditions.

Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, with potential for evenings, holidays, or weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1 year of progressive experience in trades.
• Demonstrated work in at least two trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, auto mechanics).
• Experience in grounds maintenance/landscaping and maintenance of buildings or grounds equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled tasks in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and facility maintenance.
• Operate large and small equipment and tools.
• Purchase resources in line with state policies.
• Maintain records and prepare operational forms.
• Assist with housekeeping and site upkeep.
• May supervise temporary or permanent staff, volunteers or participants on projects.
