Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician I for Merchant Millpond State Park to maintain park grounds, facilities and equipment. The role involves hands-on tasks across plumbing, carpentry, electrical and auto mechanics, along with basic custodial duties.

Typical schedule is Monday–Friday 7:00 A.M.–3:30 P.M.; may require evenings, holidays, or weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in a variety of mechanical or building trades is preferred.
• EPA certification (Type I/II/III or Universal) may be required by regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled tasks in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and auto mechanics.
• Operate large and small equipment or tools.
• Purchase resources in accordance with state purchasing policies.
• Maintain records and prepare operational forms.
• Assist in housekeeping and general maintenance.
• May supervise temporary or permanent staff, volunteers, or community service participants on projects.
