Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician I for Merchant Millpond State Park. This role performs semi-skilled trade work across plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and auto mechanics, maintains grounds and facilities, operates equipment, and supports housekeeping tasks.

Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, with potential for evenings or weekends. Must meet education/experience requirements and may supervise staff or volunteers.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated work experience performing trades in at least two of the following: carpentry, plumbing, electrical and/or auto mechanics.
• Demonstrated experience in performing grounds maintenance/landscaping.
• Demonstrated experience in performing maintenance on buildings, facilities, and grounds maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in a trade such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and facility maintenance, and/or auto mechanics.
• Operate large and small equipment and/or tools.
• Purchasing resources in accordance with state purchasing policies and procedures.
• Maintaining records and preparing operational forms.
• Assisting in housekeeping.
• May supervise temporary and permanent staff, community service participants, and/or volunteers on special projects.
