Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician II (S) for Chimney Rock State Park. The role performs manual work to maintain park grounds, facilities, and equipment, working independently and with others on custodial duties, trail maintenance, mowing, and related tasks.

Preferred candidates will have demonstrable trade experience, grounds upkeep, and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and one year in the trade areas or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in grounds maintenance and building/grounds upkeep.
• EPA technician certification (Type I/II/III or Universal) may be required by Title 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled trades in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and/or auto mechanics.
• Operate large and small equipment and tools.
• Purchase resources according to state purchasing policies.
• Maintain records and complete operational forms.
• Assist in housekeeping and general maintenance.
• May supervise temporary staff, volunteers, or community service participants on special projects.
