Collins Aerospace in Spokane, WA is hiring an entry‑level Machine Shop Operator I to set up, calibrate, and operate machines that produce high‑performance carbon‑material components for aerospace applications. Training is provided on the job.

You will learn to use CNC machines, precision gauging tools, and safety procedures, while contributing to a high‑quality manufacturing environment. The 4‑on/4‑off schedule rotates day/night every 6 weeks, with overtime opportunities and on‑the‑job training.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • U.S. Person status (citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) is required.
  • Manufacturing or related industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with G&M codes, macro programming, and editing processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and run CNC machines under guidance.
  • Follow weekly Preventative Maintenance procedures.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and comply with all company policies and departmental procedures.
  • Prioritize tasks under changing conditions, using initiative and judgment.

Job Overview

Collins Aerospace in Spokane, WA is hiring a motivated entry‑level Machine Shop Operator I to work in the Machine Shop. The role involves setting up, calibrating, and operating machines that produce high‑performance carbon‑material components for aerospace applications. Training is provided on the job.

What You Will Do
  • Set up and run CNC machines under guidance.
  • Follow weekly Preventative Maintenance procedures.
  • Use precision gauging tools (CMM, micrometers, calipers) to verify calibrations.
  • Identify and document out‑of‑spec conditions.
  • Complete daily machine inspections and calibration verifications.
  • Follow First Piece Inspection procedures and tool usage.
  • Adhere to all safety policies (Collins Cardinal Rules) and environmental, health, and safety procedures.
  • Participate in 5S/continuous improvement processes (ACE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and comply with all company policies and departmental procedures.
  • Prioritize tasks under changing conditions, using initiative and judgment.
  • Work a 4‑on/4‑off schedule with 12‑hour shifts, rotating day/night every 6 weeks.
What You Will Learn
  • All pertinent customer and company specifications, including international standards for carbon‑carbon brake component production.
  • Use of forklifts, pallet jacks, manual and automated riveters, scales, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Operation of barcode scanners, automated oxidation coating stations, and oxidation bake‑out ovens.
  • Operation of power and pneumatic equipment.
  • All training assigned within allotted timeframes.
Qualifications

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary starts at $50,000/year ($20.50/hr). Overtime and shift differentials are built into the schedule, providing approximately 208 hours of guaranteed overtime per year.
