What You Will Do
- Produce machine parts by programming, assembling, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) or manual machine (Lathes, Mills, Grinders, and other specialized CNC and manual machines).
- Interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, specifications, reference planes, design sketches and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) for operation, material, and dimensional requirements.
- Assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts into sub‑units or complete units using operating mechanical equipment.
- Takes measurements of material and selects appropriate machines for the process.
- Performs machining setups and makes adjustments as required.
- Conducts inspections of work produced.
- Checks SPC charts for frequency of checks, gauging and measurements.
- Keeps records and maintains quality/safety standards.
- Exhibits RTX Leadership Behaviors and Values.
- Supports and follows all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality and CI functions as set by assigned leader and position.
- Perform other duties as assigned including working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business.
- The schedule for this position is 2nd shift Monday through Friday 3:30pm – 12:00am. Training, however, will be the first 2-3 months Monday through Friday, 7am - 3:30pm.
Qualifications We Require
- HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Certification in core discipline with 4-5 months of employment.
- Certification on multiple programs labeled as moderate to difficult in degree of complexity.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience operating CNC machining centers.
- Communicates effectively across disciplines and cells and with all levels to resolve issues quickly.
- Critical thinking – uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Demonstrates skill in executing specific goals and plans to prioritize organize and accomplish daily goals working at times with little or no supervision.
- Demonstrates ability to train, mentor, and help others to improve their knowledge of skills, respected by their peers by setting the example for hard work and ethics.
- Moderate proficiency of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- General awareness of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools and processes.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Considered a technical expert in at least one discipline.
- Capable of working on multiple complex programs in primary discipline and capable of working on several moderate programs in primary or additional disciplines.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.
