Job summary

RTX is seeking a CNC Machinist for Collins Aerospace in the United States to operate and program CNC/manual machines, read blueprints, and perform inspections on 3rd shift. You will set up jobs, select materials, and ensure quality and safety compliance.

Responsibilities include interpreting GD&T, documenting work, and maintaining records. Strong CI knowledge and cross-functional communication are essential, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent technical education is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating CNC machining centers.
  • Certification in core discipline within 4–5 months of employment.
  • Proficiency in operating the company’s designated CNC programs.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and processes.
  • Strong communication skills across disciplines and levels, with ability to resolve issues independently.

Job description

Job Summary

Join Collins Aerospace as a CNC Machinist on site to produce machine parts by programming, assembling, and operating CNC and manual machines. This 3rd shift role involves interpretation of blueprints, machine setup, quality inspection, and record keeping while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Program, assemble, and operate CNC or manual machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, and other specialized equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, specifications, reference planes, design sketches, and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) to determine operation, material, and dimensional requirements.
  • Assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts into sub‑units or complete units using mechanical equipment.
  • Select materials and appropriate machines, conduct machining setups, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Conduct inspections of work produced, check SPC charts for frequency of checks, gauging, and measurements.
  • Maintain records and uphold quality and safety standards, supporting RTX Leadership Behaviors and Values.
  • Follow all EHS, Quality, and CI guidelines set by the leader and position.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including extended shifts or overtime when required.
Shift Information

3rd shift: Monday through Friday, 10:00PM – 6:00AM. Training will be conducted during the first 3–6 months on Monday through Friday, 6:00AM – 2:00PM.

Qualifications - Required
  • High school diploma (or equivalent, e.g., GED) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience operating CNC machining centers.
  • Certification in core discipline with 4–5 months of employment.
  • Proficiency in operating the company’s designated CNC programs.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and processes.
  • Strong communication skills across disciplines and levels, with ability to resolve issues independently.
Qualifications - Preferred
  • Experience operating multiple CNC programs of moderate to high complexity.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and coach fellow operators.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of production processes, quality control, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Moderate proficiency in document management and record keeping.
