Job summary

University of New England seeks a Technology Support Specialist to manage Mac and PC environments, troubleshooting hardware and software across two Maine campuses. You will resolve issues via tickets, phone, email, and walk-up, and provide classroom support and user training.

The role requires strong Windows and macOS knowledge, imaging, security tech, and IT operations in an enterprise setting. Higher education experience is preferred and relocation is not indicated.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or a combination of four years experience and education in related computer field.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Apple operating systems, creating/maintaining images, resolve software/hardware and mobile computing issues.
  • Experience with full disk encryption and other security related technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with a broad range of third party applications.
  • Familiarity with enterprise level networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, Kace, Deep Freeze and Jamf.
  • Familiarity with Audio/Video technologies is a plus.
  • Ability to provide professional and courteous service to a broad range of users and experience levels.
  • Prior experience working in Higher Education is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to University and ITS policies and procedures is required.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 40lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Mac and PC support across two campuses.
  • Resolve a wide range of application and technical problems with good customer service.
  • Interact with University community via phone, email, walk-up and in-person support.
  • Monitor, log, and resolve incoming requests via tickets, email, phone, and walk-up.
  • Provide immediate support for classroom-related issues.
  • Provide training to users on technology operations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with ITS staff and departments on campus-wide initiatives and projects.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned by management.
