Job summary

Harwood-Internationa is seeking a skilled Sommelier to guide guests through wine and champagne selections in an upscale, high-volume setting. You will tailor recommendations to each guest’s taste and budget, while explaining pairings with the menu and desserts.

Responsibilities include presenting wines professionally, maintaining pour standards, and anticipating guest needs with a friendly, guest-first approach. Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Sommelier in an upscale, high-volume restaurant.
• CMS or WSET certifications preferred or equivalent from another accredited wine institution.
• Extensive knowledge of wine and wine service techniques.
• Availability to work nights, weekends & holidays.
• A “guest-first” mindset and passion for providing exemplary guest service.
• Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency.
• Ability to take direction and to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist guests with wine and champagne selection, considering taste and budget.
• Anticipate guest needs and provide information on venues, menus and pricing.
• Explain how wine pairings complement food and dessert menus.
• Present wines correctly, and ensure proper pouring techniques.
• Offer alternative wine options when requested or unavailable.
• Provide engaged, friendly and attentive service to all guests.
• Perform other duties as instructed by management.
