Job summary

HEI Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Beverage Server for The Historic Cavalier Hotel and Beach Club in Virginia Beach. You will greet guests, take drink orders, mix beverages, and ensure service meets brand standards.

Ideal candidates have hotel or beverage experience, strong guest communication, and basic cash handling. This role requires standing for long periods, math skills, and adherence to alcohol-service laws. Benefits follow HEI standards.

Qualifications

• Hotel experience preferred.
• Must communicate well with guests.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
• Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes.
• Sufficient manual dexterity in hands to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
• Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintains bar setup; stocks beer, wine, spirits, and supplies.
• Stock and cut fresh fruits and garnishes; manage perishables.
• Greet guests, take orders, mix and present drinks.
• Abide by state, federal, and corporate alcohol service laws.
• Input orders in a POS and generate checks.
• Handle cash, verify charges, balance money.
• Lock and store beverage and equipment; secure bank.
• Attend regularly and be available to work.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
