Job summary

HEI Hotels & Resorts at The Historic Cavalier Hotel and Beach Club in Virginia Beach seeks a Banquet Server to assist the Banquet Manager in delivering exceptional guest experiences during events.

You will set up bars, prepare and serve drinks, check event orders, ensure compliance with alcohol-service rules, and maintain cleanliness. Previous hotel or banquet service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Hotel experience or similar preferred.
• Must communicate well with guests.
• Must have basic knowledge of service of various alcoholic beverages.
• Sufficient manual dexterity in hands to garnish, pour, and handle glassware.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons.
• Basic mathematical skills required.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.

Responsibilities

• Assist Banquet Manager in serving guests during banquet functions.
• Check Banquet Event Orders to determine function, number of guests and type of bar.
• Set up portable bar in function area according to policies and procedures.
• Make and serve drinks to guests following guidelines and safety controls.
• Abide by state, federal and corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcohol.
• Remove trash and liquor; return bar to storeroom.
• Breakdown, clean bar thoroughly; return equipment to proper area.
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
