Job summary

Blue Origin's Lunar Avionics team seeks a Motor Controls Engineer to develop control algorithms and embedded software for motor controllers used on lunar vehicles. You will work across our Power and Controls group to ensure robust performance under spaceflight conditions.

You will collaborate with cryogenic fluids, docking mechanisms, space suit interfaces, and other subsystems to deliver reliable, safe motor control solutions for mission-critical hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in EE/Control Systems or related field.
• 3+ years in avionics hardware or control system design.
• Matlab/Simulink & auto-code generation in HDL or C/C++.
• Electromechanical system modeling & calibration.
• High-performance control on resource-constrained MCUs.
• Experience with motor controllers, lab equipment, dynamometers.
• Familiarity with inverters, gate drivers, ADCs, SPI, I2C, UART, PWM.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a family of motor controllers for multiple lunar vehicles.
• Develop and own motor control embedded software across controllers.
• Test, verify, and integrate motor control designs with Lunar subsystems.
• Support FMECA, risk analyses, and root-cause analysis of tests.
• Participate in technology development, mission assurance and safety initiatives.
• Co-develop customer-facing requirements and verification plans.
• Communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management.
