Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Principal Motor Control Avionics Engineer to own and drive the technical baseline for a family of embedded motor controllers used across lunar and spaceflight systems. You will lead architecture decisions, define interfaces, and oversee verification from lab bring-up to production.

You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high reliability in demanding environments, tackling hardware and firmware challenges, and guiding the product through qualification

Qualifications

• B.S. in electrical engineering or related field.
• 12+ years in motor control or motor drive systems.
• Experience with embedded control electronics in safety-critical environments.
• Hands-on lab experience with bring-up, integration, and verification of embedded electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical baseline for a family of embedded motor controllers across requirements, architecture, and lifecycle documentation.
• Define reusable motor controller architectures for multiple mechanisms and vehicles.
• Develop controller solutions spanning embedded processing, sensing, power electronics, interfaces, and firmware for motor technologies.
• Lead cross-disciplinary teams through concept to production, including verification, qualification, and risk management.
• Coordinate interfaces between controllers, motors, sensors, avionics networks, and higher-level control functions.
