Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Principal Motor Control Avionics Engineer to own a family of embedded motor controllers used across lunar vehicles and mechanisms. You will guide requirements, architecture, interfaces, and verification while working directly with hardware in the lab and coordinating with multiple engineering teams.

Ideal candidates bring deep motor control and embedded electronics expertise, strong leadership, and ability to drive cross‑functional teams through full product lifecycle;

Qualifications

• B.S. in electrical, aerospace, mechanical, computer engineering or related field.
• 12+ years delivering motor control or drive systems for electromechanical actuators.
• Experience with embedded control electronics in high‑reliability environments.
• Experience owning a technical baseline including requirements and verification planning.
• Hands‑on lab experience with bring‑up, integration, testing, and verification.
• Ability to debug electronics, firmware, sensors, actuators, and interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical baseline across motor controller families and lifecycle docs.
• Define reusable architectures for multiple mechanisms and missions.
• Collaborate with vehicle teams to meet performance, safety and integration needs.
• Develop controller solutions for embedded processing, sensing, power electronics and firmware.
• Work in lab with hardware bring‑up, bench tests, integration, and fault analysis.
• Lead multi‑disciplinary teams through concept to production transition.
• Drive fault‑tolerant control strategies and health telemetry.
• Coordinate with systems, firmware, electrical, mechanical, safety, reliability and test teams.
