Job summary

Burlington Stores is seeking a Shortage Control Associate to help secure the store environment while delivering friendly customer service. You will patrol entrances/exits, monitor high-risk areas, and greet customers with confidence and energy.

The role focuses on reducing theft opportunities and reporting suspicious activity to management. The position emphasizes collaboration with store leadership on shortage reduction programs, training, and maintaining a professional appearance.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, or Operations is preferred.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and to visually monitor store environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality is required.
• Ability to review, analyze and comprehend business trends.
• Excellent communication with customers and co-workers.
• Excellent leadership skills that support fostering productive business relationships.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the entrance and high‑risk areas to reduce opportunities for theft and maintain a secure environment.
• Greet every customer with a warm smile and energetic greeting to promote a sense of control and security.
• Identify and report theft incidents or suspicious subjects to the Manager on Duty.
• Partner with store and field leadership to support shortage reduction programs and training of associates.
