Job summary

Marathon Petroleum seeks an entry-level Project Engineer to manage a portfolio of projects at company facilities and guide them through the Marathon PM Process phases. You will collaborate with departments to validate estimates, schedules, and EH&S impacts, while supporting design reviews to meet engineering standards.

Responsibilities include bid preparation, safety leadership, and troubleshooting to optimize operations. Travel up to 25–35% is expected as part of this fast-paced program.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required (Dec 2026 or May 2027 graduates).
• Strong academic performance.
• 0–3 years of related experience.
• US work authorization without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Valid driver’s license for work-related travel.

• Troubleshoot operational issues and optimize processes using sound engineering practices.
• Participate in project safety reviews including HAZOPs, PHAs, and PSSRs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited institution required (December 2026 or May 2027 graduate)
• Strong academic performance
• Zero (0) to three (3) years of related experience required
• Prior engagement with a Marathon Petroleum representative at a career fair, information session, networking event, or other campus recruiting activity preferred
• Valid driver's license for work-related travel
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future
• Travel up to 25-35% of the time is expected, including some overnight travel
