Job summary

Marathon Petroleum seeks an entry-level Project Engineer to manage a portfolio of projects at company facilities and guide them through the Marathon PM Process phases. You will collaborate with departments to validate estimates, schedules, and EH&S impacts, while supporting design reviews to meet engineering standards.

Responsibilities include bid preparation, safety leadership, and troubleshooting to optimize operations. Travel up to 25–35% is expected as part of this fast-paced program.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required (Dec 2026 or May 2027 graduates).
• Strong academic performance.
• 0–3 years of related experience.
• US work authorization without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Valid driver’s license for work-related travel.

Responsibilities

• Manage and implement a portfolio of diverse projects at company facilities.
• Take projects through the five phases of the Marathon Project Management Process: Conceptual, Feasibility, Definition, Implementation, and Start-up/Close-out.
• Collaborate with affected departments to vet resource estimates, schedules, business benefits, and EH&S impacts.
• Support detailed design and technical reviews to ensure compliance with corporate engineering standards.
• Prepare bid requests for material, labor, and equipment and evaluate proposals.
• Support multiple projects from conception through commissioning and start-up.
• Lead project safety activities, including safety meetings, MOC processes, and energy isolation procedures.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and optimize processes using sound engineering practices.
• Participate in project safety reviews including HAZOPs, PHAs, and PSSRs.
