Projects can range from small maintenance tasks to new multi-million-dollar developments. Project Engineers take their portfolio of projects through the 5 phases of the Marathon Project Management Process (MPMP) including Conceptual, Feasibility, Definition, Implementation, and Start-up/Close-out.Other key responsibilities include: • Collaborates with affected departments during project development to vet resource estimates, schedules, business benefits, environmental/health/safety impacts. • Supports project detailed design and technical reviews to ensure design meets corporate engineering standards. • Prepares bid requests for material, labor, and equipment and evaluate proposals on sound engineering and business principles. • Supports multiple projects simultaneously of varying magnitude and complexity from conception to commissioning and start-up. • Acts as a safety leader who upholds company core values and prioritizes personal and process safety. Prepares and leads engaging project safety meetings, drives safely, utilizes the MOC process, and supports the development and implementation of business partner energy isolation procedures. Supports department and company HES goals. • Troubleshoots operational issues and optimizes processes utilizing sound engineering practices. • Participates in project safety reviews including HAZOPs, PHAs, PSSRs, etc.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:** • Earned Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited institution required (December 2026 or May 2027 graduate).• Strong academic performance. • Zero (0) to three (3) years of related experience required.• Prior engagement with a Marathon Petroleum representative at a career fair, information session, networking event, or other campus recruiting activity preferred.• Valid driver's license for work-related travel.• Must be authorized to work in the United Sates without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - TRAVEL:**• Travel up to 25-35% of the time is expected, including some overnight travel.
