Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a responsible supervisor to lead hourly teams, ensuring on-time, damage-free movement of all shipments and delivering exceptional customer service.

You will plan manpower, assign daily schedules, monitor safety, coach staff, and drive cost efficiencies while maintaining compliance with DOT, OSHA, NMFC, and tariff rules and company policies. This role requires strong communication and team leadership in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to travel as needed.
• Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge of LTL Industry, DOT Rules and Regulations, OSHA Laws, Hazardous Materials Regulations, NMFC and Tariff Rules, as well as company policies and procedures, preferred.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Multi-tasked oriented and possess good organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, educate and develop company employees focusing on retention and growth.
• Supervise and direct employee work with a focus on outstanding quality, customer deliverables and safety performance.
• Actively monitor unsafe acts/conditions and correct immediately with follow-up.
• Plan daily manpower needs and set schedules to ensure timely, damage-free freight delivery and pickup.
• Communicate job assignments coordinating with all employees clearly.
• Monitor service freight and ensure cut time compliance.
• Address opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies while maintaining safety.
• Assist customers with rate quotes, claim information and setting appointments.
• Monitor actual performance data and gather information for reporting.
• Build relationships with business partners to meet service standards.
• Identify freight moved at incorrect weight and classification; ensure OS&D processing.
• Perform administrative functions and comply with laws and company policies.
