Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. in Lansing, MI is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends.

The role focuses on safe, timely freight movement, DOT compliance, and strong customer service with internal and external contacts. You will train across functions to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight while supporting payroll, budgeting, and ongoing reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 1 year of management/transportation/logistics related experience required or equivalent military experience.
• Willing to travel to account locations and work across shifts including nights and weekends.
• Willingness to regionally relocate based on account assignments.
• Travel and shift flexibility are essential for learning and growth in the role.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build positive relationships with drivers and external carriers for seamless setup.
• Fill in for absent staff and work on projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Train drivers and staff on internal and customer systems and processes.
• Help maximize fleet efficiency, measure KPIs, and present reporting to customers.
• Assist with inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Support payroll, budgeting, driver counseling, and invoicing tasks as needed.
