Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee in Lansing, MI to learn the management of small driver counts and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe and timely freight service.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma/GED with up to 4 years of equivalent education, training and experience; en route to degree program(s) with up to 2 years or equivalent education and training; may require travel to account, customer and company events.
• Willing to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends if needed.
• Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year experience may be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and carriers.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Train and supervise drivers and employees in systems and processes.
• Improve fleet efficiency and profitability through KPI reporting and financial analysis.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment in market.
• Perform payroll, budget management, invoicing, and financial reporting tasks.
• Maintain yard operations, preventative maintenance, and coordination with maintenance teams.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and plan routes.
