Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends. The role focuses on safe and timely freight movement, load assignment, and delivering best-in-class customer service while gaining DOT compliance knowledge.

The position offers exposure to fleet operations optimization, KPI measurement, and reporting at customer locations, with potential regional relocation and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 1 year of management/transportation/logistics experience.
• Willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends.
• Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment.
• Experience managing a team.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safe, reliable outside carriers to ensure seamless new carrier set-up, minimize turnover, and maximize ongoing productivity.
• Fill in for absent or unavailable personnel and on special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to utilize personnel management including training and orientation of drivers and/or employees including training and assistance with internal and third party (customer) systems.
• Become proficient in maximizing efficiency of fleet operations and profitability and making recommendations for continuous improvement, measuring KPIs, and presenting customer reporting and financial analysis at customer locations.
• Gain knowledge on how to manage inventory, assets, customer pools and assignment of drivers to balance equipment in market.
• Perform administrative duties such as payroll, Net-Revenue budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, filing, pay issue resolution, and invoicing.
• Manage yard operations, equipment checks, repairs, and coordinate with maintenance for scheduled services and safety issues.
• Work with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues, routing, planning, mechanical problems, and pay-related issues.
• Maintain the Company's safety culture with daily driver safety messages, training, annual reviews, and DOT compliance.
• Assign loads, plan routes, monitor freight movement to ensure on-time service and meet customer requirements.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field

High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or related field
