Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Harbeson, Delaware seeks a Manager Trainee to learn managing a small driver count, non-traditional shifts, and ensure safe, timely freight movement while maintaining top customer service.

Role trains on DOT compliance, driver and asset management, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Requires flexibility for nights/weekends and regional relocation as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer and company event locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.
• Experience managing a team (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and safe carriers to ensure seamless new carrier setup and productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and on special projects related to fleet optimization and profitability.
• Learn to use personnel management including training and orientation of drivers and employees with internal/third-party systems.
• Maximize efficiency of fleet operations and profitability and present customer reporting and financial analysis.
• Gain knowledge to manage inventory, assets, and driver assignment to balance equipment.
• Perform administrative duties such as payroll, budgeting, driver counseling, invoicing and reporting.
• Learn to manage yard operations, maintenance coordination, and safety compliance.
• Work with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues and plan routes.
• Maintain safety culture through driver safety messages and training and enforce DOT compliance.
• Assign loads and monitor freight for on-time service and customer requirements.
