Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Maryland seeks a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe, timely freight movement and exceptional customer service.

You'll be trained to comply with DOT regulations, oversee driver compliance, and coordinate with internal and external contacts to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight efficiently, with emphasis on safety and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR HS diploma with 1 year of relevant experience.
• Willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and outside carriers.
• Fill in for absent personnel and on special projects related to fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to train drivers and employees including internal and third party systems.
• Become proficient in maximizing efficiency of fleet operations and presenting customer reporting and financial analysis.
• Gain knowledge on managing inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Learn payroll, Net-Revenue budget management, driver counseling, and invoicing tasks.
• Learn to manage yard operations and coordinate maintenance.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues.
• Maintain the Company's safety culture to meet DOT compliance and safety requirements.
• Assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement for on-time service.
