Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. Streetsboro, OH seeks a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts. Focus on safe, timely freight movement, load assignment and superior customer service under DOT compliance guidance.

You'll develop skills in fleet operations, personnel training, route planning, and performance reporting while working with drivers and external partners. This is a full-time role with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management or related field.
• Willing to travel to account, customer and company events when applicable.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed.
• Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.
• Preferred: experience managing a team.
• Ability to analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
• Ability to adapt to changing environments.
• Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
• Ability to meet or exceed team/driver needs and expectations and provide excellent service.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and carriers to ensure seamless carrier set-up and productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and on special projects related to fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to train drivers and staff on internal and customer systems.
• Maximize efficiency of fleet operations and provide customer reporting and financial analysis.
• Gain knowledge on managing inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Perform administrative duties including payroll, budgeting, invoicing, and reporting.
• Manage yard operations and coordinate maintenance for account equipment.
• Work with drivers, customers, and colleagues to resolve service issues and plan routes.
• Maintain safety culture to ensure DOT compliance and company safety requirements.
• Assign loads, plan routes, monitor freight movement to meet customer requirements.
