Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn how to manage a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe and timely freight movement. The role emphasizes DOT compliance, driver relations, and performance reporting to support profitability.

The program includes payroll, budgeting, and coordination with maintenance, drivers, and customers to optimize fleet operations and ensure excellent service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field, OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of related experience
• Willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends
• Willingness to regionally relocate based on account assignment
• Preferred: experience managing a team

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and safe outside carriers to ensure seamless new carrier set-up and productivity
• Fill in for absent personnel and on special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and profitability
• Learn to train drivers and employees on internal and third party systems
• Analyze KPIs and present customer specific reporting and financial analysis
• Gain knowledge to manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment
• Perform payroll, budgeting, invoicing, pay issues, and financial reporting duties
• Learn to manage yard operations and coordinate maintenance for safety compliance
• Work with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and plan routes
• Maintain safety culture and ensure DOT compliance
• Assign loads and plan routes to meet customer requirements and adjust ETAs
