Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Boston, MA, is seeking a Field Service Technician to support the Amtrak fleet, including ACS-64 locomotives. You will troubleshoot, repair, and assist with maintenance activities, rotating 8 weeks days and 16 weeks nights with 4 days per week, including weekends and holidays.

The role requires 1+ year of relevant maintenance experience, electrical/mechanical/pneumatic skills, and strong English communication. Travel up to 10% and safety-focused teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering or at least 2 years in an industrial, military, or maintenance environment.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an industrial or maintenance environment with electrical work.
• Hands-on troubleshooting of electrical systems including AC/DC, plus mechanical and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read/interprete electrical and pneumatic schematics, drawings, and technical docs.
• Excellent English-language technical communication (speaking, reading, writing).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
• Travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Support locomotive maintenance activities using CMMS instructions.
• Assist with mechanical, electrical, and complex troubleshooting repairs on locomotives.
• Follow maintenance instructions to ensure compliance, quality, and consistency.
• Build strong customer relationships and represent Siemens Mobility professionally.
• Verify defects and tasks are documented in CMMS for tracking and closure.
• Provide first-line technical support to operations staff for troubleshooting and repair.
• Maintain safety, compliance with rules, and Siemens Rail Systems standards.
• Promote safety culture and support site safety for colleagues.
• Communicate with leadership on on-site issues and facility operations.
