Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the selling process when appropriate.

The role requires a Class A CDL with hazmat and double/triple endorsements, at least 1 year of recent driving experience, and the ability to perform daily truck inspections, handle freight with equipment, and comply with DOT regulations. Starting pay is shown and includes potential linehaul mileage pay.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• 1 year experience within the most recent three years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations.
• LCV qualification for states AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD and UT.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations including doubles/triples as applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Handle freight with motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Collect cash or checks for freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch about delays, arrivals, and equipment problems.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Ask for additional business from customers and provide leads to sales.
• May perform chaining of vehicle tires.
• May perform duties of road driver or dock employee as needed.
• Comply with laws and company policies.
