Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a CDL A driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the sales process. The role requires Hazmat and Tank endorsements and adherence to DOT regulations.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, securing freight, operating tractor-trailer combinations, and communicating with dispatch. You may be asked to perform additional duties to support operations and customer service.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• Minimum 1 year driving experience within the last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards and meet DOT regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform pre-trip and safety inspections of equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from tractor/trailer.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as needed.
• Secure freight in trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and DOT procedures.
• Collect payments as required and maintain documentation.
• Communicate with dispatch about delays, arrivals, and equipment issues.
• Engage with customers to determine pickup/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
