Job summary

K&L Gates is seeking a Market Development Manager to join our offices in Washington DC and other major markets. The role will drive marketing and business development initiatives for the Litigation practice, coordinating with practice group leaders and partners to enhance client development, visibility and results.

The MDM will manage BD programs, collaborate with the Pitch & Proposal team, plan events, and provide mentorship to lawyers on BD-focused communications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of seven years of marketing, business development and/or sales experience.
• Experience in a large national or international firm preferred.
• MBA or similar graduate-level degree preferred.
• Outstanding communication skills and ability to influence senior professionals.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Co-develop and implement litigation business development plans with leadership.
• Lead directory submissions and maintain litigation experience.
• Collaborate with lawyers to execute BD activities across marketing network.
• Prepare RFP responses, proposals, and presentations for new business.
• Plan seminars and events with the events team and direct lead follow-up.
• Support client growth initiatives with knowledge of global market.
• Coach lawyers for BD-related presentations and client debriefings.
• Orient new lateral lawyers and assist in press releases.
