Job summary

K&L Gates seeks a Market Development Manager to join one of its offices in Pittsburgh, New York, Charlotte, or Chicago. Candidates must be self-starters who work well independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and client-service focus.

The MDM will develop and execute marketing and business development programs, collaborate with lawyers, measure impact, and manage the BD pipeline to raise firm visibility and drive client development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of seven years of marketing, business development and/or sales experience in a professional services firm or closely related work environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the global marketplace for professional services required.
• MBA or similar graduate-level degree preferred.
• Outstanding communication skills and ability to influence senior professionals.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong project management and team-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

• Co-develop and implement practice- or office-centric business development strategies and plans with leadership.
• Co-develop annual marketing and business development budgets with leadership.
• Collaborate with lawyers to execute BD activities across the firm’s marketing network.
• Prepare RFP responses, write proposals, and create presentations for new business.
• Manage the BD process and pipeline for the office or practice.
• Plan seminars, conferences and firm-sponsored events and lead follow-up.
• Identify market trends and coordinate with marketing staff to enhance firm visibility.
