Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Software Engineer, Linux Kernel for Starlink to develop and deploy a high-reliability Linux kernel and drivers for Starlink hardware in Redmond, WA. The role focuses on building a lean, robust OS underpinning the satellite network and laser mesh, with emphasis on performance and reliability.

Responsibilities include writing high-performance drivers, deployment and debugging in production, and close collaboration with hardware teams to bring up new systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or >=2 years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree.
• Hands-on system programming experience in C or C++.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a low-level Linux-based OS for SpaceX Starlink hardware.
• Develop and optimize high-performance device drivers for network and compute hardware.
• Deploy, operate, and debug the platform in production with emphasis on reliability and observability.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to bring up OS/stack on new hardware.
