Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Software Engineer for Linux kernel development on the Starlink platform. You will work on the Linux-based OS that underpins our satellite network and AI-centric supercomputers, crafting drivers and low-level software that maximizes hardware performance.

You will collaborate with hardware teams to bring up new systems, improve observability, and ensure robust security and reliability across the stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• Hands-on system programming experience in C or C++.
• Strong understanding of the Linux kernel and networking (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the lean, high-reliability Linux-based OS underpinning our supercomputer network fabric and Starlink laser mesh of satellites.
• Write (or rewrite) high-performance device drivers to extract maximum from our hardware.
• Manage deployment, operation, and debugging of our platform in production.
• Rigorous root-cause analysis to improve reliability.
• Develop and improve observability and configuration management tools.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to design and bring up OS/stack on new hardware.
