Job summary

SpaceX in Redmond, WA is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer for Starlink Enterprise Products (Space Lasers).

You will own software for bring-up and operation of Starlink products including Plaser, Community Gateway, and Starlink Aviation, spanning embedded, backend, and UI layers. Responsibilities cover design and implementation of reliable devices, architecture reviews, and experiments to validate concepts; strong emphasis on Linux-based software for processors and microcontrollers, plus testbeds.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience in software development.
• Experience with embedded systems.
• Experience launching and operating consumer or enterprise products.
• Knowledge of networking and Linux networking stack.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements.
• Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to question requirements and push technical boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement highly available, fault-tolerant devices that operate for long periods of time with minimal maintenance for millions of users.
• Participate in and lead architecture, design, and code reviews.
• Identify areas to improve the experience, reliability, and efficiency of the product.
• Develop prototypes and manage experiments to prove out key design concepts.
• Write quality linux-based software for common processors and microcontrollers.
• Develop hardware-in-the-loop testbeds and test cases.
