Job summary

SpaceX in Redmond, WA is seeking an OS/Platform Software Engineer for the Starlink program to tackle software from boot loaders through business logic with a focus on deterministic, secure, and performant platforms.

Responsibilities include maintaining OSS forks, secure boot, and spacecraft software updates, collaborating across engineering teams to bring hardware from prototype to on-orbit operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in software development.
• Proficient in C, C++, Python and/or Rust.
• Experience with ARM embedded systems and Linux networking.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update in-house OSS forks like Linux, Buildroot, and U-Boot.
• Support secure boot and runtime security of Linux-based satellites.
• Maintain spacecraft Ethernet network and connectivity.
• Develop, deploy and test spacecraft software update processes.
• Collaborate with Silicon, Electrical, and App SW engineers to bring hardware to on-orbit operations.
• Interface with OS/Platform test infrastructure and device drivers development.
