Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer for Laser Mesh Routing (Starlink) in Bellevue, WA. You will build a lean Linux OS for the satellite network fabric and write high-performance device drivers to push the hardware to its limits.

You will deploy and debug the platform in production, improve observability tools, and collaborate with hardware teams to bring up new systems. The role requires C/C++ expertise and strong kernel networking knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/engineering/math or related field, or 2+ years of software work experience.
• Hands-on system programming in C or C++.
• Strong knowledge of Linux kernel networking and kernel debugging tools.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a lean Linux-based OS underpinning Starlink laser mesh and network fabric.
• Write or rewrite high-performance device drivers to maximize hardware capability.
• Deploy, operate, and debug platform in production with root-cause analysis.
• Develop observability and configuration-management tooling ongoing.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to bring OS on next-generation hardware.
