Job summary

SpaceX, the developer of Starlink, seeks a Software Engineer for the Linux Kernel to maintain a lean, high-performance OS for our satellite network and laser mesh. You will write device drivers, collaborate with hardware teams, and ensure robust deployment and observability of the platform.

Qualifications include hands-on C/C++ system programming and Linux kernel experience; a Bachelor's or 2+ years of related work is acceptable. Eligible for SpaceX benefits and stock options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years software development experience.
• Proficient in C/C++ system programming.
• Experience with Linux kernel development preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the lean Linux-based OS for the supercomputer network fabric and Starlink laser mesh.
• Write or rewrite high-performance device drivers to maximize hardware capability.
• Deploy, operate, and debug the platform in production with focus on reliability and observability tools.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to design next-gen hardware and bring up OS and software stack.
