Job summary

Bird Electric Enterprises, a Black & Veatch Company, seeks a lineman helper to assist in installation and repair of cables for electrical power and distribution systems. You will follow plans and industry codes, use hand and power tools, and work on poles, towers, and in trenches with safety as a priority.

Preferred NCCER Construction Craft Laborer and Core Curriculum training; minimum 1000 hours as a lineman helper; must bring required tools.

Qualifications

• 1000 proven hours as a lineman or helper; knowledge of the lineman craft.
• Knowledge of installation/repair of cables in power distribution systems.
• Must have all necessary lineman tools.

Responsibilities

• Use hand and power tools to install, test or repair cables per plans.
• Install, maintain and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems per diagrams.
• Open switches or ground devices to remove hazards.
• Climb poles or use bucket access equipment.
• Transport tools and materials to job sites; travel to inspect lines.
