Job summary

Baker Construction in Louisiana seeks a skilled Line & Grade Instrument Man II to coordinate layout using surveying equipment on active projects. You’ll work with Party Chief, Superintendent and Foremen to ensure precise building locations and adherence to tolerances.

Responsibilities include maintaining site dimensions, establishing survey points, coordinating with clients, and supporting field crews while upholding safety and the IIF culture.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 4 years of construction experience (or equivalent).
• Must have 2 years' experience as Line & Grade Instrument Man I.
• Proficient in AutoCAD.
• Ability to respond to inquiries from customers/regulatory agencies.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all physical site dimensions and controls accurately.
• Layout building locations, structures, and dimensions throughout the project.
• Coordinate with client to define primary survey points and transfer building control.
• Establish secondary control and communicate procedures to crews; implement layout methods.
• Provide data to establish defining points for data collectors.
• Calculate and monitor concrete hold quantities daily.
• Maintain communication with project leadership and other trades to coordinate layout.
• May serve as Party Chief on smaller projects.
• Set up surveying equipment and verify accuracy.
• Review construction drawings for discrepancies and issues.
