Job summary

Baker Concrete Construction, Inc. in Fort Myers, FL is seeking a Line & Grade Instrument Man II. You will coordinate layout activities with the Party Chief, Superintendent, and Foremen to install precise layouts on projects. The candidate will maintain field notes, review drawings, and support project management with daily observations and issue resolution. Travel up to 25% is possible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 4 years’ construction experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have 2 years’ experience as an Line & Grade Instrument Man I
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume; understanding of geometry and trigonometry
• Knowledge of industry tolerances
• Working knowledge in the use of the coordinate system
• Ability to work harmoniously, respectfully and effectively with subordinates, peers, supervisors and clients
• Team player, who provides information to the workforce, resolves conflict, and provides feedback
• Ability to direct work

Responsibilities

• Maintain all physical site dimensions and controls accurately
• Layout building location, structures, and dimensions throughout the project
• Establish primary survey points and transfer building control on the site
• Establish secondary control and coordinate with crews
• Provide data to Party Chief to establish defining points
• Calculate and monitor concrete hold quantities daily
• Coordinate with Party Chief, Superintendent, Foremen and other trades
• May serve as the Party Chief on smaller projects
• Set up surveying equipment and verify accuracy
• Review construction documents for discrepancies and write clarifications
