Job summary

Baker Construction seeks a Line & Grade Instrument Man II to provide precise layout using surveying equipment and coordinate with project leaders to ensure accurate installation. You will support field operations with tolerances and constructability considerations, contributing to safety and project success.

The role requires strong teamwork, problem solving, and the ability to work on diverse projects, with travel up to 25% and potential to step into leadership on smaller projects.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 4 years’ construction experience; or equivalent.
• 2 years’ experience as a Line & Grade Instrument Man I.
• Ability to respond to inquiries from customers and regulatory agencies.
• Good listening skills.
• Ability to work within a team environment.
• Knowledge of industry tolerances and geometry/trigonometry.

Responsibilities

• Accurately maintaining all physical site dimensions and controls.
• Accurate layout of building location, structures, and dimensions.
• Assist in establishing procedures and coordinating with the client for primary survey points.
• Establish secondary control and communicate procedures to crews.
• Provide data to establish defining points for data collectors.
• Calculate and monitor concrete hold quantities daily.
• Maintain communication with leadership and other trades to coordinate layout.
• May serve as Party Chief on smaller projects.
• Set up and verify surveying equipment.
