Job summary

Baker Construction seeks a Line & Grade Instrument Man II to coordinate surveying equipment and ensure accurate layout on projects. You will work with the Party Chief, Superintendent and Foremen, contributing to project management through daily observations and effective communication.

Ideal candidates bring a High School Diploma and several years in construction, with prior Line & Grade experience and strong math and drawing interpretation skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 4 years' construction experience, or equivalent.
• 2 years' experience as Line & Grade Instrument Man I.
• Ability to read construction drawings and apply geometry and tolerances.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all physical site dimensions and controls accurately.
• Layout building locations, structures, and dimensions.
• Coordinate with Party Chief to establish survey points.
• Set up surveying equipment and ensure accuracy.
• Review drawings for accuracy and resolve conflicts.
• Maintain field notes and documentation.
• Support safety and follow PPE guidelines.
• May serve as Party Chief on smaller projects.
