Job summary

Baker Construction is seeking a Line & Grade Instrument Man II to coordinate surveying layout across projects, ensuring accurate dimensions and alignment. You will work with the Party Chief, Superintendent, and foremen to implement layout plans and support project leadership with improvements.

Role requires strong math skills, ability to work in a team, and commitment to safety. Occasional leadership on smaller projects may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 4 years’ construction experience, or equivalent.
• 2 years’ Line & Grade Instrument Man I experience.
• Ability to respond to inquiries from customers and regulatory agencies.
• Good listening and teamwork skills.
• Ability to calculate figures using geometry and trigonometry.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate site dimensions and controls.
• Layout building location, structures, and dimensions across the project.
• Coordinate with client to define primary survey points and transfer building control.
• Set up and verify surveying equipment and data collection points.
• Communicate with Party Chief and foremen to resolve constructability conflicts.
